Invitation to Tender for Scrap Metal

Project Scope: The Government of the Cayman Islands invites eligible Contractors to submit tenders for the purchase of processed scrap metals from the George Town Land Fill Site

Description of Project; Scrap Metals are defined as all processed (baled) metal items including, but not limited to automobiles (e.g. derelict vehicles), automobile parts, appliances (may or may not include Freon containing appliances), furniture, fixtures, construction debris and any other items consisting primarily of a metal content, including, but not limited to brass, copper, aluminum, steel, tin, cast iron and any other discarded metal suitable for reprocessing. There is approximately 6000 tons of processed scrap metal on the site

Eligibility: Interested firms will need to meet the following eligibility criteria in order to be considered and evaluated.

• Companies or individuals Tenderers must comply with all applicable local laws including business registrations, pensions and other regulations and any other regulations.
• Tenderers are reminded that the bids should be inclusive of all cost necessary for them to conduct business in the Cayman Islands.
• Proof of finances to fulfill the contractual obligations must be demonstrated.

Evaluation: The criteria for evaluation and the relative points weighting will be included in the tender documentation, Particular attention will be paid to the proposed delivery plan and the relevant experience of the Tenderer.

Collection and Access to Tender Documentation: Tender packages, further information and instructions on submission of tender, including the form of tender to be submitted and a copy of the invitation to tender document can be collected from the Department of Environmental Health. Tender documents will be available from 16th November, 2009.

Return of Tenders: The return date is scheduled to close at 12:00 noon on the 4th December, 2009, EST. Tenders are to be returned in the enclosed envelope (sealed) to:

Late bids will not be accepted, CIG will not defray any cost incurred by bidders. The Cayman Islands Government shall not be bound to assign any reason for not accepting any tender.
